L&T’s Power Transmission & Distribution Business Secures New Orders!

Larsen & Toubro’s Power Transmission & Distribution Business, a leading engineering conglomerate in India, has recently achieved significant milestones by securing new orders in both the domestic and international markets. The company’s expertise in power transmission and distribution solutions has positioned it as a preferred partner for critical infrastructure projects worldwide.

On the domestic front, Larsen & Toubro’s Power T&D Business has been awarded a prestigious contract to implement SCADA/DMS (Supervisory Control and Data Acquisition/Distribution Management System) and related IT infrastructure for urban area power distribution systems in central Gujarat, India. The project scope also encompasses Information Storage & Retrieval, Outage Management, Network Management, Dispatcher Training Simulation, Local Data Monitoring, and requisite security systems. This modernization initiative is expected to enhance the efficiency and reliability of power distribution in the region, benefitting millions of residents.

In another significant domestic achievement, the company has secured an order to build a 400kV Double Circuit Transmission Line in Jharkhand, India. This 133-kilometer transmission line holds strategic importance as it is associated with the evacuation of power from a generating station. By strengthening the power transmission infrastructure, the project will bolster the state’s electricity grid and support the growing energy demands.

Venturing into international markets, Larsen & Toubro’s Power T&D Business has clinched a major order for the construction of a ±525kV High Voltage Direct Current (HVDC) transmission segment in Saudi Arabia. This project is part of a large-capacity HVDC system based on Voltage Source Converter (VSC) technology, connecting Neom Industrial City and Yanbu city in western Saudi Arabia. The HVDC link will enable efficient and reliable power transmission over long distances, contributing to the economic development of the region.

The company’s prowess in delivering advanced power solutions has also been recognized in Malaysia, where it has bagged an order, in consortium, to establish a 275kV Substation in the Sarawak region. Once completed, this critical infrastructure project will significantly improve power supply reliability in major load centers on the northwest coast of the island of Borneo. It is expected to play a crucial role in supporting industrial and commercial activities in the region.

These recent successes reflect Larsen & Toubro’s commitment to driving innovation and excellence in the power transmission and distribution sector. The company’s robust track record and ability to execute complex projects have earned it the trust of customers and stakeholders globally.

“We are honored to be entrusted with these significant projects that contribute to the development of power infrastructure both in India and abroad,” said a spokesperson from Larsen & Toubro’s Power T&D Business. “Our focus on delivering cutting-edge solutions and meeting the unique needs of our clients has been instrumental in winning these orders.”

With these new projects in its portfolio, Larsen & Toubro’s Power Transmission & Distribution Business is poised to strengthen its position as a leader in the global power sector. The company’s expertise, backed by its commitment to sustainability and technological innovation, continues to drive its growth and contribute to the progress of the power industry worldwide.
